One of the Otavalo Spanish Schools is located in the heart of Otavalo (map of Ecuador), just a few minutes walk from Otavalo's famous artisan market in the Plaza de Ponchos. Our language school facilities include a library, laundry, a common room for breaks and a terrace with a wonderful view of the city and the mountains. Our location is within easy reach of restaurants, internet, interantional call facilities and banks.
The second Otovalo Spanish School location is in an indigenious community. Here the student will live with an indigenious family fully participating in their life. The family provides a private bedroom with private bathroom and three meals per day. The student will study four hours in the morning (Monday-Friday). After lunch with the family students will work on the farm, or other activities with the family according to personal interests.

Otavalo, a small indigenous town in the countryside, is located just two hours north of Quito.
It has been made famous by the incredible success of its indigenous population selling artisan crafts and quality textiles in the international arena.
This is a great spot to get more acquainted with Indigenous populations and their incredible history.
A growing but peaceful city (with a population of around 30000), Otavalo is situated in a valley in the shadow of the extinct Volcan Imbabura to the South and further North the extinct Cotocachi vocano. It is the main city on the North-South route from Quito to the Columbian border, just 3 hours away.
During the week we organize optional social and educational activities i.e. visits to Parque del Condor, Waterfall of Peguche, Lago San Pablo, cooking parties, visits to local shamans, etc. On the weekends we organize excursions to the cloud forest, Indian communities, indigenous villages, etc. These activities include excursions to the mountains surrounding Otavalo, trekking, horseback riding, mountain biking etc.
It is an ideal spot for the outdoors enthusiast, and with a growing tourism network, there are also opportunities for independent biking or rafting in the nearby country side.
