Instituto Superior de Español works with several volunteer organizations to help our students find volunteer positions with social or environmental projects in all parts of Ecuador- from the Amazon to the Galapagos Islands.
Volunteering in Ecuador is getting to know an exciting country while committing yourself to helping others and the environment!

Starting dates: Every Monday (arrive on Sunday)

Social volunteering projects in Ecuador
Would you like to engage socially, improve your Spanish and at the same time learn about an exciting country in South America? Then volunteering socially in Ecuador would be the best choice!
You love kids and maybe you’ve got some babysitting experience? You’re dedicated to providing smiles, hugs and caring for others? Volunteers in our social program will help care for children and organize after school activities.

100% immersion: Great for cultural and Spanish immersion, especially if you live with a host family.
Gain experience: Perfect for gaining experience in teaching, education, or childcare.
Your duties: You may assist in feeding and bathing, helping with homework or making handicrafts.
In general, you are there to use your own skills to develop motivating ideas that get the children going.
Notice: As Ecuador is a developing country, be aware that the children may be growing up in very poor conditions. You may also work with orphaned and abandoned children.
Educational volunteering projects in Ecuador
In our educational volunteering project, you will be teaching English by giving interesting lessons so that children learn English in a fun-filled environment. You will have the possibility to interact with the locals, to work with children, to improve your Spanish and to guarantee them a quality education.

Your duties: Help children with their homework, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation of English. Prepare classes together with the teachers.
Notice: Volunteers do not have to have a teaching background or a special qualification to participate in this project but Intermediate Spanish is required.
Rural and environmental volunteering projects in Ecuador
Do you have a green thumb? Are you enthusiastic to learn more about the dynamics of ecological conservation?
Your tasks will range from reforestation, biodiversity inventories, working in the local botanical gardens, and weekly hikes to explore the surroundings. Each biological station is different and therefore the tasks will vary depending on the location of your volunteer placement.

Your duties: Collecting food and feeding the animals, cleaning and constructing animal cages, administering special foods and medicines, clearing the hiking and walking paths
Your advantages: Cultural and Spanish immersion, learning about the indigenous cultures of the Amazon, perfect for experience in conservation, veterinary studies, biology, environmental science, and animal care.
Free time Activities: Weekends are free; Hiking, waterfalls, swimming in the river. You may have to travel in order to have access to internet, stores, and travel agencies, where you can organize whitewater rafting trips, jungle tours, and trips to indigenous communities.

Spanish classes all across Ecuador
We offer our pupils 7 Spanish course locations, including fixed schools in Otavalo and Quito, plus our Traveling Classroom program in the Amazon jungle, the Galapagos Islands and on a traditional Ecuadorian hacienda. The best thing about it: You can mix and match locations!
Over 25 years of experience teaching Spanish
We’ve been teaching Spanish for a very long time – 25 years in fact! We were the first Spanish school in Ecuador to offer volunteering opportunities combined with Spanish courses. We also created the unique traveling classroom model and trips to the Amazon Jungle.
Central and safe location in the colonial center of Quito
You’ll find our Spanish school in a safe and central location surrounded by the old churches and plazas of Quito’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed historic center. We’re near food and craft markets and only a 2-minute’s walk from the "Plaza del Teatro" trolley bus stop.
